I had to write this...
I watch all these ridiculous reality tv shows, and one thing you hear over and over again is "Just don't talk behind my back!" Which... I absolutely don't get. I mean, isn't it in human nature to talk about things that are happening to the people around you even if they aren't around to hear it?
In my opinion, you don't need to say every opinion you have out loud, let alone in front of the person you have the opinion about. I think that it's natural to have opinions (whether good or bad) and you don't owe it to anyone to have to list it out to the person you have them about.
I think that if you are a happy person you won't have much of an issue anyhow, but the point is that you can have opinions, but you shouldn't talk behind someone's back with the motive to "get back" at someone, or to be manipulative.. saying things that are untrue would be a completely different issue. I don't think that speaking behind someone's back is always a good thing, but I don't think that because two people together are talking about a third person necessarily makes it a bad thing.
I think I read somewhere that it is scientific fact that human's use rumors or "talking behind someone's back" as some residual form of needing to communicate orally in a time where we didn't have written communication like we do nowadays. When you look at it that way, rumors don't seem all that bad... do they?
